I decided to go to a dance last night it was a good decision. I knew several of the women who attended and danced with a few. What surprised me was how many single and married women were there without partners, of the 50 or more women at the dance only 4 or 5 men including myself attended. Several men had partners or wives but all the dancers were primarily women who liked to dance but had no one to dance with but their girl friends. Times have changed over the years when many men went to dances single in hopes of meeting a compatable woman. I was reminded of my teenage years at dances I attended when girls were overwhelmingly the majority in attendence and males had a choice of one or many to dance with. That was similar to last night, with the exception of our ages. Most of the the women last night were over sixty years old, but still danced with happy feet and broad smiles dancing to the rock and rolling beats. It was great fun and especially with a dear friend who was attending with her husband asked me for a dance and we jitterbugged our way around the dancefloor.

Last night I was introduced to eight or 10 different women of between the ages of 50 to 75 and felt grateful for all their smiles and happy talk with me and sharing a few great dance songs. The DJ played the best 60s and 70s rock and roll music and dance tunes. Everyone enjoyed the music. I Am grateful I went to the dance and got out of my selfconsiousness as an older “gentleman” who hadn’t engaged in dancing for many years, to realize I still kept a good beat, attracted women, and remembered many old dancesteps. One of my enthusiastic younger dance partners, wearing leopard skin high heals, complimented me on how good a dancer I was. My advice to all is to keep on dancing if you can or at least enjoy the music.

There is a dance tonight at a local place that should be fun to attend but, for a single man over 70 it may be a challenge to attract a dance partner tonight unless she is someone I already know. I haven’t been to a dance for years the last one I went to I went as a couple over 15 years ago. I did dance at a reception over a year ago, but it was short lived the band changed tunes and some of their songs were not dance tunes. I Am into late 60s early 70s music that still reigns as some of the best songs ever written but those were the years I went to a weekly dance in my home town. Most of the girls and guys were single in their teens and early twenties, those guys and girls are near my age now, married, divorced or etc.

As a single older “gentleman” I have my hopes up for a dance or two or three. As when I was a teenager my fun was dancing with lovely girls on Saturday nights. Some became dates and others new aquaintences but we danced together in a blissful state brought on by youthful happiness and great classic rock songs. If I decide to attend tonight’s dance I will tell my readers about it tomorrow.

Sobriety is what we all strive for staying clear of vice and unhealthy addictions. By generating God’s presense in our daily lives creates a unique sobriety as we ward off temptations of over drinking, over eating, overdrugging, pornography, and all other addictive endeavors. Spiritual so briety is not to be confused with Drunk in the Spirit. There is no artificial stimulant created by God’s presense in our life, he is with us to aid in all you ask him for. We must understand the guidance we receive to do the right thing and make the right choices and decisions. Touching the great God Stone of reality creates the spritual sobriety we all need. Regardless of our confusion and stubborness to comply with his will, once we feel in faith the divine friendship come over us we understand we are never alone.
