This essay is my tribute to the world-famous, great American Transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson. The above quote is from his prophetic essay “The Oversoul” I opened my first book with this quote which also inspired this website. All who were meant to see my words and read them have already or will. I have always believed we are meant to hear, read, and see things that inform or inspire us. Unfortunately, we also hear, read and see things that do the opposite and depress, anger, or alienate us.
Emerson was a great philosopher who well understood the minds of men and women and has been an inspiration to his readers and followers for two centuries. I have devoted many years to studying his works and found a remarkable independent spiritual voice and masterful understanding of Spirituality, which has created the foundation of my own spirituality and philosophy. Emerson was one of the great activist voices against slavery and inspired the early westward expansion of American pioneers through his essays and sermons, especially one of his greatest essays “Self Reliance”, and granted spiritual strength to his audience that inspired the unique American spirit that thrives today in the love of God, Freedom, and Democracy.
